Why not step outside of your comfort zone in Tokyo and venture out to Shizuoka.
As the summer weather was so hot all over Japan the turning of the fall foliage has been late or not turning at all. Walking along the Jingu Gaien, ginkonut tree lane the trees are only turning on one side and not the other.
Better yet take the Shinkansen to Shizuoka and enjoy the cuisine and the fall colors. There are plenty of hot springs to visit, great soba to eat and view the beautiful waterfalls and fall colors all around the mountains. Shizuoka is also known for their green tea, visit the green tea museum if you have the time. It is also known as the first place to harvest the delicious wasabi. The fresh water from the south alps are the source for growing the best wasabi.
Enjoy your time in Japan.
